Cream and Sugar?

The always brilliant Devon has sparked our first contest. She's very curious, and wonders how you like your tea? Leave a comment here. One entry per person please, and any who found one of our blogs first will also be eligible. The contest will end on July 20th, which should be about the next time I am calm, cool and collected! The winner will be selected by the ever popular, random number generator.

I (Chan) like mine straight up. Hot, cold, tepid, it's all good. I do like a bit of Splenda and cream in hot, black teas though.

Devon says, "I am a bit of honey kind of girl with a splash of milk if my mood calls for it."

Mary says, "I like my tea sweet, hot or cold."

I like mine hot (not iced, even though I live in the south), strong, and with splenda.

I adore chai w/soy milk.
Could live on green tea w/ginger.
I could go on and on. I'm a tea fiend. My current fave is jasmine tea- perfect for summer!

I prefer my cold in the summer, hot in the winter. I don't like any sugar in my iced tea, but do take honey in my hot tea.

Except chai - I love the sweetness or chai.

I love chai, sweet tea and straight up. When I was in London, I emjoyed English Breakfast and Earl Grey with milk and sugar. Yum! However, I've heard that 2 cups of black or green tea a day (decaf or regular) helps fight ovarian cancer as long as they don't have any milk products mixed in. So, 2 cups a day of green or black straight up for me.

I prefer hot chai; sweetened flavored iced tea like raspberry, peach or lemon; or hot tea with honey.

The idea of cream in tea is just something I cannot begin to comprehend ;)

In hot tea, I like just a bit of Sweet n Low or splenda, nothing else.

Plain iced teas I add a bit of sugar and a bunch of lemon too - just love that taste on a hot summers day. And I actually enjoy fruity iced teas, like Lipton's Peach Green Tea or something like that :D

I like hot tea. I love Chai and flavored Chai's. I am also a big fan of other flavored tea's white or green. I prefer splenda and a splash of milk.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to join the swap, but I followed the link from Chan's blog and am happy to answer the question.

For me, it depends on the type and temperature of the tea. Hot black tea is good either plain or with cream but never with sugar, hot herbal tea or chai can sometimes stand a bit of honey, and hot green tea must be plain. Iced tea of any sort is good either plain or with a bit of sweetener (sugar or honey) and a bit of lemon.

There are 2 kinds of hot tea I like, chai and an arab tea with spices (I don't know how to make it, I should find out), both with milk and sugar. Sometimes I like warm herbal tea with sugar, only if I'm in the mood though. I only like iced teas that have a fruit flavor, I like them with sugar.

I use to drink it with milk or lemon but as I got older now I just like any tea plain, sometimes with a little sweetner added. For iced tea, I go outside and get some fresh mint to add to it. And now since I can't drink soda tea is all I drink. And thanks to Devon, I am hooked on Chai (no milk)tea!

Hot tea straight up please...

Iced in the summer, but usually with a flavor or sweetener (Splenda)...

looking forward to details on the swap!

interesting question...I'm originally from the south so Lipton hot or iced with LOTS of sugar is what I grew up with ('sweet tea') but I tried it that way for the first time in a decade a few weeks ago and wowsers it was too sweet! I've grown into mostly a green tea drinker (but I like herbal fruity teas as well), hot in the winter with splenda or honey and a dash of milk...iced in the summer with a bit of splenda for slight sweetness!

in the summer iced with a touch of lemon or fresh crushed mint, when it's cooler hot with a swirl of honey, I am a classic orange pekoe kinda gal, though I will try any flavor at least once...

I like my cold, iced with sugar and lemon. The only time I drink hot tea is when I am sick - then it's mint tea with sugar. (comfort food for me)

Lacey said...

It depends on the tea. Love Chai and Earl Grey, hot with milk and sugar. I love white tea cold though.

Like my tea iced with lots of ice and lemon in the summer and hot in the winter with lots of sugar and milk.

black, with a tiny bit of splenda for most teas, maybe a hint of lemon depending on the tea...except chai, then I like a touch of french vanilla creamer too. iced wants a bit of splenda and lemon, maybe a mint sprig.

I like my tea in several ways, starting with hot or iced Earl Gray, nothing added. Hot or iced orange pekoe, plain again; but hot also with honey and lemon, iced also with a sugar and lemon and mint is a great addition to any except the Earl Gray. I also like the esoteric and elusive Lapsang Souchong straight up.
Tere ia also the always excellent Oregon Chai mixed with milk, either hot or iced (or blended with ice cream!).

I've never participate in a swap before but I'd sure like too and this one sounds great. I followed the link from "The Bag Lady's" blog. Here are my answers to the question.

It depends on the type and temperature of the tea, like someone else said. I like hot black tea with cream (real) with sugar (now it's Splenda for me). Hot herbal tea- honey, green tea, or chai tea -plain . Iced tea - sugar NO lemon.

Tea in the morning, tea in the afternoon, tea in the evening, for me. I like it hot or cold, black, green, or oolong. Hot black tea usually gets a dash of cream. Rarely do I sweeten, and then just a touch.

I stopped drinking sweet tea one day a few years ago and never picked it back up although I'm in a household that consumes the stuff like water.

Black teas, I like strong, sweet and with enough cream to make it look like caramel. Chai is always welcome, but only hot. My current obsession is a mixture of jasmine green tea with a bit of oolong and a hint of sugar.

Level spoon of sugar in the cup first. Hot black tea dissolves the sugar instantly. Then a generous splash of milk to make it smooth.

I don't like anything too fancy schmancy unless you consider Chai tea fancy. I like it with a bit of splenda and enough milk to change the color. I am not, however, a fan of iced tea. Just never got into the whole sweet tea thing here in the south either. A nice cup o'chai ends the day nicely.

For me, it really depends on the tea and the time of the year. In winter, I like my teas black and hearty, with milk (not cream, but milk) and sugar. In the summer time, I tend towards the tisanes and the herbals, completely sans milk or sugar.

Since moving to the US, I've discovered iced tea, which I am now developing a taste for. (Growing up in Australia, iced tea would have been looked at as tea that's gone cold!). I still need sugar in my tea, but not like the sweet tea they serve down South. I tried it in NC, and it's so sweet, it makes me thirsty again.

Depends on the tea, I like all my tea hot, some with honey only, some with milk only. However in Ireland I always drank my tea hot with milk and brown sugar. Lordy that was great!! Raw brown sugar not the baking kind, :)
Can't wait for signups to open. This is a wonderful idea.

Hi Mary!!!

I like hot tea strong and straight up. Once in a while a little sugar is nice! I usually drink my iced tea plain as well.

My son brought me some wonderful tea right from the factory in Cameroon, West Africa; they are well known for their tea. It makes the best iced tea ever--strong and with sugar!!

Living in Ireland these days (married to an Irishman) I love strong Irish tea with milk and a good bit of sugar!

When we lived in Atlanta before moving here, I LOVED sweet tea. Yum!

Guess I like my tea sweet whatever way I have it!

Call me crazy, but I really don't have a favorite way to drink tea -- I like it hot or iced, sweet (with sugar or splenda or honey) or unsweet, with or without milk. The only thing I really don't like is preflavored fruit teas -- I like real fruit tea that has been brewed and had real fruit mixed in, especially strawberries...

Well, the hubby prefers his Irish Breakfast hot, strong, and with exactly two packets of Splenda. I like Adagio's Vanilla loose leaf tea, hot and sweet. Although, with meals, I love plain ole Red Diamond sweet tea over ice. :)

I'm currently obsessed with Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea, strong and straight, hot to start then iced if there's any left after it cools off...as if...

Earl Gray hot and cold/iced. The oils in it make a sweetness enough for me.
Hot black tea is amazing with cream and a touch of sugar.
Of course, iced tea is wonderful in the hot summer months--straight up. Iced tea can be black or Earl Gray.
Moroccan mint tea, hot or cold, and straight up, is a nice change if I don't want too much caffeine.
And there's the goodies that compliment teas so well: scones or bread fresh from the oven with melted butter and a dab of strawberry jam.

Mornings begin with hot black tea and milk, but after those 1-2 mugs, I adore my tea in a variety of ways! Lately, the heat has been leading me to regular and flavored iced teas.

I've become a loose leaf tea snob, but I still love a good cup of Tazo or Twinings Earl Grey. I tend to drink more green, herbal in the summer, but I love chai, chinese blacks and earl grey. There's nothing like a great cup of tea with the fragrant smell of bergamot with a bit of honey or raw sugar and soy milk. I'm also addicted to jasmine tea, my favourite is Steeps Mu Dan Rose Jasmine balls (pricey, but soo worth it!). I can't get sick of Steeps Pear Green Tea, Tazo Refresh or the perfect pick-me-up peppermint tea. In the summer, I like to make iced tea (unsweetened so everyone can sweeten to taste if they sweeten it at all) and I love a nice steaming pot in the winter. I can't wait till signup!

I find my "tea buds" have matured. I rarely sweeten my teas anymore- if I do I use honey or organic maple syrup. I also like a squeeze of citrus, lemon or lime. I like all kinds of green and red teas, am trying white, but rarely drink black. This sounds like it will be a fun swap!

i love milk (or cream) and sugar with my black "english" teas. just a bit of sugar with my black china teas, honey for herbal mixes or green teas, and i like my white teas straight up. red tea depends....sometimes honey.

I like all flavors of iced tea without sweetener, but with lemon when available.

I like Irish Breakfast(preferred) & English Breakfast with cream and sugar. I like Chai with honey and sometimes milk. I like green and herbals without anything unless I have a cold - then I'll take honey, or lemon or whiskey... whatever you've got!

I like all teas but my favorite way to enjoy it is hot with a bit of honey.
